Pamalakaya (National Federation of Small Fisherfolk Organization in the Philippines) is an alliance of activist fisherfolk groups in the country with over 80,000 individual members and 43 provincial chapters.
It is a member of the biggest international organization of small fishermen known as World Forum of Fisher People (WFFP), as well as active member of the International League of People’s Struggle (ILPS) and the Asian Peasant Coalition (APC).
Pamalakaya is a member of the militant umbrella group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan-New Patriotic Alliance), the largest political activist group alliance in the Philippines.
The Pamalakaya Times is Pamalakaya’s news blog running the federation’s day-to-day stories and statements on burning issues of the day including but not limited to agrarian reform, agriculture and fisheries.
The news blog is being run by independent and activist reporters led by Gerry Albert Corpuz, the blog’s senior reporter.
